Carl Hazel Named Executive Chef of Gamlin Whiskey House

Gamlin Whiskey House announces the hiring of executive chef Carl Hazel to lead its award-winning kitchen team.

Hazel brings nearly two decades of top-notch culinary experience to his new position, as well as expertise in a wide range of culinary methods and menu creation. Throughout his career, he has worked and offered leadership in the kitchens at several of St. Louis’ favorite restaurants. He has also competed in (and won) some of the city’s best-known food events, including Taste of St. Louis and the Riverfront Times Iron Fork competition (winner, 2011).

“We are very excited to welcome Chef Hazel into the Gamlin Restaurant Group family,” owner Derek Gamlin says. “He brings some wonderful talents to the table, so to speak, with extensive training in farm-to-table, whole-animal cooking, butchery and charcuterie. Our customers are going to love him and the amazing food he creates.”

Hazel’s skillset will be used to further elevate the menu at this Central West End establishment, which specializes in traditional steakhouse fare with a southern twist made using locally sourced, fresh ingredients.
