When you walk into Gamlin Whiskey House, you’ll sense the long, earthy tradition of whiskey making as it takes a distinctly modern twist. Elements of copper and American white oak are woven masterfully into the restaurant’s features and fixtures. Our travels to Whiskey Country are showcased in photographs along the walls; reclaimed barrel oak is used in the finishings; and handmade white oak menu boxes showcase our whiskey, cocktail and wine menus.
Our classic steakhouse fare — named among the seven best steakhouses in St. Louis by the Riverfront Times, one of USA Today’s best bars for whiskey lovers and included in Zagat’s 2016 list of 50 States, 50 Steaks — features hand-selected steaks, grass-fed beef and locally sourced ingredients. Gamlin Whiskey House also offers tantalizing non-steak menu options, such as our signature kale salad, our savory bourbon-brined fried chicken and our pork steak, which has been identified as some of St. Louis’ “most underrated BBQ.” Our menu is designed to bring friends and families closer together — order an entrée, then share the side selections!
Our award-winning whiskey selection attracts some of Hollywood’s greatest celebrities, including Nick Jonas, Jon Hamm, Jonathan Bennett, Ken Page, John O’Hurley, Andy Cohen, Brett Hull, Ryan Reeves and Ezekiel Elliott.

Since 2004, brothers Derek and Lucas Gamlin have provided nationally award winning dining and drinking experiences. Gamlin Whiskey House is the newest venture for these innovative restaurateurs, following continued success with Sub Zero Vodka Bar—another popular venue in the Central West End, located just a block west of Gamlin Whiskey House.
Before the Gamlin brothers combined their respective genius for creating true gathering places that offer both high quality food and rare drink, Derek gained more than 10 years experience working in St. Louis’ finest bars and restaurants. He envisioned owning a drinking establishment unlike any other in town and convinced his brother, Lucas—who worked in the Portland, Oregon, bar scene — to join him in St. Louis. The rest, as they say, is spirited history!
In 2016, Gamlin Whiskey House joined the Green Dining Alliance, a restaurant sustainability certification program of St. Louis Earth Day that works with area restaurants to reduce their environmental impact.
